Hero Day should be on Pakistan’s calendar --- KCCI Chief

"One day in every three months, Pakistan should celebrate a Hero Day in honor of a genuine hero who has excelled and made a name for self and country. The hero could be a sportsman, a social worker, a businessman, an artiste, or even a politician." This was stated by Majyd Aziz, President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while speaking as a Guest of Honor at a reception organized by Tasty for Pakistan’s cricketer Muhammad Yusuf in Karachi.

Majyd Aziz paying glowing tributes to Muhammad Yusuf said that it is not the score or the centuries that is the real forte of this cricketer but that he is a reliable player and comes through for Pakistan when the going is tough. He is reliability on the field. This is what makes the difference between a mediocre player and a great cricketer.

The KCCI Chief also advised the sports personalities to promote the country’s image wherever they went and added that the image of Karachi gets a boost whenever world cricket is played in the city. He said there was a time when PCB officials plotted to deny the citizens of Karachi the pleasure of watching cricket on the pretext that law and order situation wasn’t appropriate. All this proved wrong and foreign cricketers have experienced the peace and tranquility in the city.

Majyd Aziz moreover said that major financial institutions, multinational corporations, and large industries, should sponsor tickets to cricket games and in this way, students and citizens from low income sector are able to watch international cricket.

He also added that the old saying "Winning isn’t everything" should not be applicable for Pakistan’s team but that they should adopt what one great American football coach said that "Winning isn’t everything. It’s the only thing." This is the best motivation to adopt in order to bring home the next World Cup.

Munir Sultan, Chairman Housing and Construction Industry of KCCI presented a check of Rs 250,000 while Amir Razzak of Tasty presented Rs 500,000 to Muhammad Yusuf.
