TRADE MISSION FROM MANCHESTER (UK) AND

MET KARACHI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

 

Peter Thompson, International Trade Advisor Manchester Camber to (UK) along with 9 members of Trade Mission, visited Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry on Monday 27th November 2006. Peter Thompson the leader of the delegation said, “through these trade missions bilateral trade relations can be further strengthen between UK and Pakistan. There are various areas where can exchange information and complement each other: Banking, Media, Plant and Machinery, Manufacturing etc, said Peter Thompson.            

 

Earlier, while welcoming the delegates, KCCI Senior Vice President, A. Abdullah Zaki briefed the Trade Missionaries the working of Chamber and its role in economic development of the country.

 

Abdullah Zaki said, UK is certainly a big market for Pakistan. However, we aim at increasing the present volume of trade from US$ 1.00 billion to $ 2.00 billion within next few years.

 

As we all know, in this era of globalization, where competition in doing business is ever increasing, we have to endeavor to exchange more and more information, knowledge, statistics and technology to keep the business community update on all these aspects. Emphasized A. Abdullah Zaki Senior Vice President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

 

Abdullah Zaki, also mentioned that KCCI has entered into an strategic alliance with European Chamber under EU Asia Invest Programme, in which Birmingham Chamber, Coventry Chamber & Naples Chamber of Commerce are the partner with KCCI. “The Strategic Alliance between the Asian and European Chambers will go a long-way to provide business service to the members of the respective chambers”, he said.

 

 “I am confident that the EU Tripak Project will also serve as a dynamic image-marketing tool for Pakistan, to show to the European countries the amount of progress and maturity achieved by the country’s economy, and would facilitate transfer of international best practices and aspect of human and industrial excellence”, said Abdullah Zaki.

 

Speaking on the occasion Shamoon Bakir Ali, Chairman of Fair & Exhibition, appraised the Trade Mission about the 4th exhibitions of KCCI “My Karachi Oasis of Harmony-2007” being arranged by KCCI in June 1-2-3 2007 invite the UK businessmen to participate in the exhibition and to introduce their quality products to Pakistani consumers.

 

Saqib Naseem, Vice President of KCCI proposed a vote of thanks to the visiting Trade Missions and the participants of the meeting.

 

Also present in the meeting were Munir Sultan, Rafique Maysoorwala, Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan, Saboor Ahmed, Mohamamd Usman, Muzzammil Hussain. Mr. Alamgir A. Shaikh, Mr. Ovais Siddik Jaangda, Mohib K Habib (Secretary KCCI), Mr. M. Ishaq Subhani (Additional Secretary /Director Research)  also attend the meeting.
